A congress of international art fairs assemble and thrive in Miami one week in December. Every day of the year Miami institutions and art professionals foster prolific artists building their practice. HOTBED is a uniquely positioned connector between these two frames.
Miami is a HOTBED of exceptional emerging artists with exuberant talent, accomplished technique and ambitious resourcefulness.
HOTBED is an exhibition placing the projects of exceptionally motivated emerging and early career locally-based artists in front of international art market professionals and collectors during Miami's art fair week in December.
Launched in 2010 by documentary film and art event producers Wet Heat Project (Bill Bilowit & Grela Orihuela), the first five years of this high-visibility platform featured BFA seniors and alumni from the visual arts program of Miami's renown New World School of the Arts. The next five exhibitions will feature significant Miami-based artists meeting the HOTBED criteria: compelling series work and bold, scalable project proposals that cross disciplinary lines.
